John Rocker and girlfriend to compete on CBS' 'Survivor'
There will be another retired ballplayer competing on CBS' Survivor. The 29th season of the show -- titled, Survivor: San Juan del Sur — Blood vs. Water -- will feature none other than former MLB hurler John Rocker.
Rocker, now 39, spent parts of six big-league seasons with the Braves, Indians, Rangers and Devil Rays and over that span pitched to a 3.42 ERA (132 ERA+) while logging 88 saves. Of course, Rocker is most famous for the controversial comments he was reported to have made about New Yorkers in a Sports Illustrated profile that ran in 2000.
Rocker will be competing on the show alongside his girlfriend, Julie McGee.
The new season begins Sept. 24 on CBS.
D'oh! It's the Ice Bucket Challenge:
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is now reaching our animated stars. "The Simpsons" character Homer Simpson dumped a cup of ice water on his head in a clip released by Fox, but that wasn't good enough. Homer is then doused with buckets of water, Santa, polar bears, Olaf from "Frozen," and even an ice cream truck. All thanks to his son, Bart, of course. Homer nominated Ned Flanders, twice, Lenny, and even Donald Trump to take on the challenge.
