A Georgia native is getting her big break during the 2014 Winter Olympic games in Sochi, Russia, but she isn't an athlete.
Mallary Hope wrote "My Day," the song chosen by NBC to be the theme song for the winter games.
The Cohutta, Ga native says she wrote the song in 2010. Three years later, she got a call from the label for Voice champion, Danielle Bradbery, saying Bradbery wanted to sing it and NBC wanted to use it for the Olympics.
"I just started balling because this song was such an emotional journey for me at that time," Hope said.
The song was born out of disappointment.
"I was feeling really beat down, like every song I brought in wasn't good enough," she said. "I told them I can write poor pitiful me all day long, but I wanted to write something uplifting that will help people feel good and give them some hope."
Hope says having her song chosen for the Olympics is a dream come true.
"I never would have imagined it happening. It's up there with playing at the Opry."
Hope has taken the stage at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry. It's also where she got engaged. She joked that she'll use the royalties from "My Day" to help pay for the wedding.

"Don't start your marriage off in debt! That's what my dad says," Hope joked.

Hope has sung with stars like Darius Rucker and Edwin McCain. She goes on tour this week with another Georgia native, Corey Smith.
