Want to share your wedding day with the already 20,000 couples that think getting married on 12-13-14 is awesome-sauce? Well, you’d better book soon because venues are filling up fast!
20,000 couples is quite the jump in numbers according to the David’s Bridal poll that reported only 7,200 on the same date last year.
"We've had to turn a lot of people away," Julie Miller, a production manager at Long Island City venue The Foundry, told the outlet. "We've gotten 20 requests for the day since we booked it [a few months back], and December is generally a quiet month for us."
Why are so many brides opting for the numerically magical wedding date? It varies, but most couples just think it’s “cool.” Like preschool director Jennifer Krysiak who said, “I always wanted a winter wedding, so I originally picked Dec. 6. But that wasn't cool, and when I found out that 12/13/14 fell on a Saturday, I knew I had to pick it. We started planning as soon as we got engaged last September.”
Venues are jumping on the 12-13-14 bandwagon with kitschy specials. Caesars Palace in Las Vegas has a “ceremony and buffet for two” lunch special for $1,213.14.
But, if your fiancé is cheesy enough to want to get married in Vegas, and such a tight wad that he only wants to spend $1200 bucks on your wedding day, is he really someone you want to spend the rest of your life with? I’d pass.
