The Vice President and Executive Producer of the Grand Ole Opry, Dan Rogers, gave an interview to Rolling Stone that is drawing some criticism from people online. The criticism comes from the "reinstatement of Hank Williams." “Hank Williams will always be a treasured past member of the Grand Ole Opry," Rogers states. “The Grand Ole Opry is made of living, breathing artists who can contribute to the show, and to whom the Opry can give back.” The Opry has always maintained that once you become a member, the stage is yours. However, they can revoke your status and have done so throughout the years. Williams was one who they revoked.
After multiple missed appearances, due to alcoholism, Hank Williams was ousted from the Grand Ole Opry in 1952. Williams eventually died early in 1953, before he could be reinstated.
