Former Bulldog Champ Bailey Nominated For College Football Hall Of Fame

78 Players named for potential new inductees to the Hall of Fame and one of them couldn't be more proud to represent the home of the Hall, Former UGA All-American defensive back Champ Bailey.

The big time players all up for induction will be voted on by NFF members and current College Football Hall of Famers in the coming weeks. Typically out of the 78, 13-15 will be inducted. Last year 19 players got their place in history.

DAWGS fans and fellow teammates where excited about Bailey's potential spot. One of the greatest UGA players to ever take the field deserves his spot. Bailey onced played alongside the current UGA coach Kirby Smart, who was more than elated, writing on twitter, Y’all know who I’d be voting for!! Congrats to my teammate & long-time friend, Champ Bailey, on the nomination to the CFB Hall of Fame. You deserve it! #GoDawgs.

Bailey was inducted into the NFL Hall Of Fame just last year. After putting together a record breaking season with the Bulldogs in 1998. He accumulated more than 1,000 yards of offense and finished that season with 52 tackles, 3 interceptions, 744 receiving yards, 5 touchdowns, 49 punt return yards and 216 kick return yards. Bailey also was in the running for the Heisman Trophy voting that season.

He was drafted the following year to the Washington Redskins, after several years was traded to the Denver Broncos, where he finished out his career in 2013 and was a 12-time NFL Pro Bowl selection. ESPN also named Bailey the No. 149 greatest college football player of all time. #GoDAWGS
