The life of Kenny Rogers was celebrated over the weekend at the Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta. Kenny died on March 20th, 2020, but due to the pandemic, a memorial service had to be postponed.
His touring buddies Linda Davis and Billy Dean served as masters of ceremonies, while friends and family shared memories of Kenny.
At the reception that followed, a lyric video for Kenny's song “Goodbye" was debuted for the guests. You can watch it below.
So many of us thought of Kenny as a singer/songwriter and entertainer, but he was also an accomplished photographer. His photographs are featured in an exhibit right now at The Booth Museum in Cartersville, Georgia through July 10th.
When Kenny decided to take up photography he went all in, learning from some of the best on the planet. Former Ansel Adams assistant John Sexton regularly went on shoots with Kenny between performing gigs. Yousuf Karsch, the master portrait photographer, not only gave Kenny tips, but also wrote the forward to a book on Kenny’s photos. Kenny loved shooting his celebrity friends and using photography as a way to meet new ones. His images of iconic Western lands are as breathtaking as his images of common folk are poignant. Featuring nearly 60 images this exhibition highlights a facet of a multi-talented man many didn’t know about and sheds new light on the seriousness of Kenny’s hobby.
