A mom in Texas said she had to call in a favor with the big guy after accidentally baking her kids’ “Elf on the Shelf” in the oven.
Brittany Mease outted herself on Facebook. She said it was a “Mom of the Year” moment when she turned on the oven, forgetting that she put Elfis, the families’ “Elf on the Shelf,” in there to hide.
Although she’s not a fan of the holiday tradition, Mease said, “I suck it up every year” for her kids. But this year, Elfis appeared with a broken leg. Seizing the moment, she told her kids that Elfis' leg was in a cast and he had to stay on bedrest for the next 14 days.
Kristen’s Pick – Stores With The Best Return Policies
No matter how hard you try to find the perfect gift for someone, there’s always going to be that person who’s unhappy, which means they’ll probably be headed to the store soon to return what you gave them. Knowing this, instead of wracking your brain for the perfect gift, your best bet is probably to just buy them something from a store with a great return policy, and there’s no doubt some stores deal with returns better than others.
Well, RetailMeNot has just come out with their list of the most return-friendly retailers so if you’re still looking for something for that hard-to-buy person on your list, you may want to consider heading to one of them.
Stores with great return policies include:
Bed, Bath & Beyond – Of course, anyone with a receipt will get a full refund, and a gift receipt will receive store credit, but if you don’t have a receipt for something purchased within the last 365 days, they’ll try to search for your transaction record. If they can’t find it, you’ll still get a store credit, with 20% taken off the current sale price.
JC Penney – With a receipt you can return a gift at any time after purchase. If you don’t have a receipt, they’ll give you store credit at the item’s lowest selling point within the last 45 days. Fine jewelry and electronics must be returned with a receipt within 60 days.
Macy’s – Macy’s gives folks about 180 days to return an item (with a few exceptions). Without a receipt, Macy’s will still let you return most items for store credit, based on the item’s lowest selling price within the previous 180 days.
Nordstrom – Nordstrom’s return policy is considered one of the best because basically “there is no return policy.” The set no time limits for returns, and they don’t even require a receipt or paperwork. They even provide free shipping for stuff you bought online and want to return. But this is only for regular Nordstrom stores, not Nordstrom Rack. They have a 90-day return policy as long as you have a receipt, original tags and a photo ID.
And while these are beig singled out, that doesn’t mean all other stores have bad return policies. RetailMeNot reports that Bloomingdale’s, Costco, Kohl’s, Target, Zappos and L.L. Bean also make it easy for folks to return unwanted gifts.

When you think of gifts your grandparents got you, chances are they weren't always what you wanted. For a pair of senior citizens in Vermont, they decided to give out a lot of green...in the form of weed.
Police in York, Nebraska pulled over a pickup truck after it was spotted driving over the center lane and failing to use a signal. Immediately, the responding officers were hit with the smell of marijuana. No wonder, consider there was 60-pounds of weed in the back of the pickup.
Now here's where the story really gets good. The 80-year-old man and 83-year-old woman in the truck explained to the cops that they were going to give the pot as Christmas gifts. It's unclear whether the boys in blue believed them, but either way, the couple was arrested on multiple drug charges.
