Woman Shares Engagement Ring Photo But People Are Distracted By Her Nails

Close-Up Of Diamond Ring In Human Finger

A recently engaged woman shared a photo of her ring online, like most brides-to-be excitedly do after they get asked the question. Unfortunately, however, somebody took her photo and posted in a ring-shaming Facebook Group. Yes, those really exist. After this bride-to-be's photo was posted in the group, users quickly began shaming her nails.

The group this ring got shared in is called 'You Said Yes But Your Finger Said No.' The description for the group is a quote from Emily Charouhas that reads "Jesus, girl, you might keep the man but you’re gonna lose the finger." Yikes! The group also established a few ground rules, including "be kind and courteous: We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required" and "no body shaming: calling hands/fingers obese, fat, or using terms to infer so will not be tolerated and you will be banned without warning."

The group also calls for "no hate speech or bullying: make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated." Well, it seems like that rule went out the window after the new photo was posted and users started commenting on the bride-to-be's nails.

While group members were initially preoccupied with determining if the ring was fit too tightly, others quickly began leaving mean comments on the post. One of the group members wrote: "she should get it resized though if she can. I feel bad for her fingers. But the nails are giving me anxiety." Another chimed in with: "OMG clean your nails. So many germs. I'm gagging," while another wrote "why don't people feel ashamed of their dirty nails??"

It seems like some of the groups' rules were definitely broken on this photo. Hopefully, a moderator jumps in ASAP and stops any more rude comments about this woman's nails. To each their own, right?
