Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson reunited on the American Idol champ’s talk show on Monday (September 19), and Clarkson could hardly contain herself when she got to sing an acoustic rendition of one of Shelton’s biggest hits with him.

“Austin” was one of 10 tracks the country superstar released on his debut album, Blake Shelton, and it’s still one of his most beloved hits more than two decades after fans first heard it in 2001. Clarkson was giddy to say, “I wanna sing a bit with you, but you start it,” as Shelton joked that he’d “never heard you sing on this show” and started strumming his guitar. Clarkson grinned and excitedly clapped along as she and Shelton teamed up to sing part of the song:

“She left without leavin' a number/ Said she needed to clear her mind/ He figured she'd gone back to Austin/ ‘Cause she talked about it all the time/ It was almost a year before she called him up/ Three rings and an answering machine is what she got
“If your callin' 'bout the car I sold it/ If this is Tuesday night I'm bowlin’/ If you've got somethin' to sell your wastin' your time, I'm not buyin’/ If it's anybody else wait for the tone you know what to do/ And P.S., if this is Austin, I still love you”

Clarkson and Shelton also caught up on the upcoming season of The Voice, which doesn’t include Clarkson as a coach this time. Instead, Camila Cabello is joining for the first time.

“Nobody’s you, OK?” Shelton said when Clarkson asked how things are going on the smash-hit competition show. “Let’s just say, there’s only one Kelly Clarkson. But there is one person we’ve found who can talk as much as you, and that’s Camila. …There’s no way you guys could be on the same season.”

Clarkson agreed: “I know, I’ve met her. We had to edit down our interview.”
