It's a sad day for country music fans. Country Legend Glen Campbell has passed away at the age of 81 after his battle with Alzheimer's. He was one of my all time favorites. I learned to play "Rhinestone Cowboy" on the guitar. "Southern Nights" was the first record I owned. I sang my heart out as a little girl to "Wichita Lineman", "Gentle On My Mind", "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" and "Galveston." Thank goodness there is no video of the time I saw him in concert!
Earlier this year, he released Adios, his final studio album. It's mainly covers of songs that his daughter says were "so far back in his memory that they were the last things he started losing." He spent his final days in an assisted living home. My heart is broken that he is gone, but I know he's singing and playing with his pals who've gone before him. RIP Glen and thank you for the wonderful music!
The Video for Adios features some of his children and grand Children taking his guitar on the final journey from Nashville to California and ends with his Grandson tossing it in the ocean and giving it a traditional Viking funeral.
The amazing song and video below, "I'm Not Gonna Miss You", tells the story of his battle. Grab a tissue and watch.
