Not sure if they will be "Finger Lickin' Good", but KFC is giving it a go!
The legendary chicken food chain is testing the first laboratory-produced chicken nuggets this fall in Russia.
They say they nuggets will be as close as possible in taste and appearance to the original KFC product.
A press release from 3D Bioprinting Solutions, a laboratory for biotechnological research in Russia, says they are developing additive bioprinting technology using chicken cells and plant material to create a product that has the taste and texture of chicken meat.
KFC is giving 3D Bioprinting Solutions its signature breading and spices to achieve the desired taste. Considering NO ONE has been able to get that special blend in the history of the the company, that iis a BIG DEAL!
"At KFC, we are closely monitoring all of the latest trends and innovations and doing our best to keep up with the times by introducing advanced technologies to our restaurant networks. Crafted meat products are the next step in the development of our “restaurant of the future” concept. Our experiment in testing 3D bioprinting technology to create chicken products can also help address several looming global problems. We are glad to contribute to its development and are working to make it available to thousands of people in Russia and, if possible, around the world", said Raisa Polyakova, General Manager of KFC Russia & CIS."
The way 2020 is going, nothing surprises me!
