First Listen! Sugarland Releases Taylor Swift Duet 'Babe'

Love gone wrong is the subject of Sugarland’s new duet with Taylor Swift.

“Babe” officially hits streaming services today (April 20) and features the former country star, who co-wrote the song with Train’s Pat Monahan, on background vocals.

“You really blew this babe/We ain’t getting through this one, babe/This is the last time I’ll ever call you, babe,” Jennifer Nettles sings in the cheating song’s chorus.

Sugarland revealed backstage at the ACM Awards how the collaboration came to be.

“[Taylor] was excited we were getting back together,” Jennifer says, “and reached out and said, ‘Hey! I have a song.’ And that is a short list, ladies and gentlemen, of people to whom she has said, ‘Hey! I have a song. Want to sing it?’ So we said, ‘Yeah!’”

Kristian Bush adds the duo, who has never included a tune written by outside songwriters on any of their projects, kept the duet a secret until they were sure Taylor “liked it.”

Sugarland’s new album, Bigger, drops June 8.
