Extreme temperatures and winter weather disrupted mass transportation all around the country, but JFK International Airport had some truly awful luck. A water main broke inside a busy terminal, which led to cancelled flights and a sea of suitcases inside the baggage claim area at the New York airport.
Part of the terminal was evacuated Sunday after water cascaded into the waiting area and swamped baggage carousel areas. Hundreds of bags lined the floor as frustrated passengers dealt with flight delays.
