Elton John Pulls Double Duty Hosting, Performing At Living Room Concert

Sir Elton John served up hosting duties for the The iHeartRadio Living Room Concert For America on Sunday (March 29) to pay tribute to the people on the frontline who are putting their lives at risk every day to fight the spread of COVID-19.

The iconic musician welcomed fans into his home and started off the star-studded night with an uplifting, and much-needed message for everyone watching.

“Here we are together at home, you've got your family and loved ones and I'm keeping mine close too. We're taking care of each other, looking out for each other, doing what we can during this crisis. There's a lot of grief out there, uncertainty and fear, but let me tell you what's going to keep us together: all the goodness that's still happening in the world, those doctors, nurses and scientists on the frontline, they're living proof that most superheroes don't wear capes.”

His speech was just the start of an absolutely incredible night. And like he said, “Since we're all hunkered down together until those days greet us again, we thought that we'd put on a little show for you!” During the one-hour TV special, he introduced amazing performances from Mariah Carey, Billie Eilish, Backstreet Boys and more.

Throughout the show and between performances we hear from Sir Elton John talking about the amazing ways communities all over the world are coming together during these uncertain times as well as ways as all of us at home can make a difference.

To make the night even more special, Sir Elton John closed out the show with a surprise performance of “Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me” on his son's keyboard and dedicated it to all of the heroes we met throughout the show.

You can support two of many charitable organizations that are helping victims and first responders during this difficult time —Feeding America and First Responders Children's Foundation. Every dollar raised from the COVID-19 response fund for Feeding America will be used to get food and funds to local food banks across the US and FOX Entertainment is matching the first $100,000 donated from supporters. Money raised for First Responders Children's Foundation will help support those first responder families who are enduring financial hardship due to the coronavirus outbreak.

And if you missed any of the iHeartRadio Living Room Concert for America, watch the special on iHeartRadio's official YouTube channel until April 1st.
