Chris Young dedicated the first song of his set at the Big Fresno Fair earlier this week to the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting.
“I was in Vegas the other night. I heard this song a lot, I’ve never attempted to sing it because I have a huge amount of respect for the guy who did it originally,” Young said before performing Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High On The Mountain.” “But I’m going to give it my best. Music can heal.”
Earlier in the day he shared similar sentiments in a video he posted to social media, in which he called Vegas “the scariest night of my life.” “I’m a musician, and music can heal,” he said. “So I’m hoping this is a night of trying to do that for a lot of people that are here.”
