Kenny Chesney has revealed the album cover and guests who are on his new album, Songs for the Saints.
He invited Jimmy Buffett, Ziggy Marley and singer-songwriter Mindy Smith to sing on the record, which he recorded in Nashville and mixed in Key West.
The album serves as a love letter to the people of the Virgin Islands who were battered by last year's hurricanes.
He says, “I knew I wanted this album to show the spirit of the people, but I wanted it to focus on healing, on their gift to rise above such complete chaos and devastation. They had no power, no real food, nothing; they dug in, started clearing the land and rebuilding. To me, that’s inspiring.”
Proceeds from the album, which comes out on July 27th, will help rebuild the islands.
Jimmy Buffett and Ziggy Marley are perfect additions for an album of this kind.
Kenny has already done a lot to help rebuild in the aftermath of the devastation.
Kenny knows about rebuilding. His home in Nashville suffered extensive damage in the 2010 flood.
