Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood hit number one with “The Fighter” more than a year ago, but they recently got around to celebrating the song’s success with a party in Nashville.
Keith shared that the tune was “an easy song to write,” noting that it was inspired by conversations he had with wife Nicole Kidman before they got hitched.
He says the song “feels like vows,” that someone would say at a wedding, “this is what I promise I’ll be and do and I’ll take care of you and I’ll keep the world away.” He adds, “It was very easy to write from that perspective.”
