Brett Young Mentors Idol Contestants

Country star Brett Young helped out the Idol hopefuls on American Idol last night when 10 of the Top 20 performed.

Young sang with Riley Thompson his song "Like I Loved You" and they slayed the song.

He then teamed up with one of the judges favorites Laci Kaye Booth to sing "Mercy" and blew the judges away.

Katy Perry even said "I don't wanna play favorites, but.... ". That's when Luke Bryan said "you're lovin the country now Katy?"

It was a powerful moment and really good. One thing still bothers me about Brett Young though. He's one of my favorites and I love his songs, but his facials are so creepy to me. His eyes kind of have a psycho look to them when he does the wide-eyed thing. So when he trying to be serious, it comes off as the psycho jealous boyfriend to me. He's a super nice guy but he need to work on that I think. Do you see it?

Sadly, the last two Atlanta area contestants both got cut last night. Shawn Robinson of Atlanta and Kate Barnette of Kennesaw didn't make the live rounds of the show. Shawn sang with Elle King and did "Rollin On The River".

Kate Barnette sang "Heartbreaker" with Pat Benatar and it was amazing! Not good enough to get through to the live rounds though.
