The First Lady and President Trump landed in Atlanta today to speak at the RX Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit at the Hyatt Regency in downtown.
They both addressed the crisis in this country with prescription drugs, especially how it affects mother's and their unborn children that are born addicted. Melania said a major focus for her in the White House was meeting with addicted parents and families, as well as medical professionals to get a first hand account of it's affect and help plan for recovery.
President Trump reiterated the importance the Melania addressed and laid out how his administration has already made unprecedented moves for more money dedicated to prevention and recovery for mother's, babies and even veterans. Sighting that over 43,000 vets are now using alternate pain management.
This was the 8th year for the summit and Atlanta is an important metro, as we have some of the worst Heroin addiction rates in the country. One region of the ATL metro is even called the Heroin triangle and was featured on an A&E show called "Intervention".
It's definitely important to talk about and address this issue because it's exponentially getting worse.
