Talk about backhanded compliment! In a new attractiveness survey, people rated other's with a mask on higher than without.

According to The Gaurdian, Researchers at Cardiff UniversityResearchers at Cardiff University Researchers at Cardiff University did a study of attractiveness and were surprised to find that many people rated other's with a facemask, higher in attractiveness than those without. Ummm.... you can only see my eyes and the bridge of my nose! That's not a compliment!

Dr Michael Lewis, from Cardiff University’s school of psychology and an expert in faces, said people used to see facemaks as unattractive because they were associated with disease or illness. Post pandemic, people now see them in a better light. “Our study suggests faces are considered most attractive when covered by medical face masks. This may be because we’re used to healthcare workers wearing blue masks and now we associate these with people in caring or medical professions. At a time when we feel vulnerable, we may find the wearing of medical masks reassuring and so feel more positive towards the wearer," Lewis stated.

Conan came up with a way to make the mask a little sexier. The Mask-ini:

The results of the first study has been published in the journal Cognitive Research: Principles and Implications. Both Men and Women were seen as more attractive with the mask. People have cognitively changed their idea of what a mask means. It's no seen as a positive and likeable feature. You know.... how we used to see lips and a nose! This is so wild to me.

Lewis said this is a significant find because, “The pandemic has changed our psychology in how we perceive the wearers of masks. When we see someone wearing a mask we no longer think ‘that person has a disease, I need to stay away’.

I get it, wear a mask and do your part if you feel the need but I don't ever think "Wow! That person is so sexy with that mask!" What if she's got some busted teeth or excessive nose hair. You'd never know. I'm sure many have gotten the beautiful eyes home for a night cap, only to find out when the mask comes off.... it's Shrek on the bottom half.
