Alan Jackson Is Now A Country Music Hall Of Famer

Alan Jackson is headed for the Country Music Hall of Fame. The latest HOF class has just been revealed and Alan, a three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year winner with more than 30 number one singles, got the nod in the Modern Artist category.

Alan said he was “honored” to be chosen for the HOF, and joked that hearing he was getting in as a Modern Artist “was the biggest honor I’ve heard in a long time.”

The late Jerry Reed, who died in 2008, got the nod in the Veteran Era Artist field. He’s best known for such songs as “The Claw," "Guitar Man" and "When You're Hot, You're Hot,” as well as “East Bound and Down,” which he recorded for “Smokey and the Bandit,” a film he appeared in.

Finally, songwriter Don Schlitz, who penned Kenny Rogers’ “The Gambler” and Randy Travis’ “Forever and Ever Amen,” among other tunes, will be inducted for his songwriting.

This year’s Country Music Hall of Fame induction will take place later in year.
