A 12-year-old girl in Atlanta was caught trying to steal a pair of $2 shoes from a Family Dollar store for her five-year-old sister. The girl said she was trying to do something nice for her little sister. And after talking to her, Officer Che Milton wanted to see what her living conditions were like, so he took her home.
What the officer saw really made him want to help. He found there weren’t enough beds for the five kids living there and the only other furniture was an old sofa. There was hardly any food there either. So Officer Milton went and bought four pizzas and a couple big drinks for the family, so they’d have dinner. He also contacted the department of children’s services to see if a social worker could help the family’s living situation.
The Atlanta Police Department is proud of Officer Milton’s actions, helping the community as well as enforcing the law. And as people have heard about the family, hundreds are stepping forward offering to help them. If you want to help this family, check out the Atlanta Police Department Facebook page to get more detailed information on clothing sizes for the kids.
