As Melanie Sanchez was waiting to collect her diploma at her graduation ceremony at the University of Central Florida, the marketing major got the call she’d been waiting for. Her phone rang and she recognized the number as the company she had just interviewed with, so she took a chance and answered it.
Sanchez didn’t want to miss the call and have them offer the job to someone else, so she picked up. She says she took the once in a lifetime chance and it all worked out for the best. As people are clapping and screaming in the background, the 23-year-old was offered the job.
Now she’ll be starting as a marketing specialist at a Florida health care company next week. “The feeling of graduating and getting my diploma and then telling me I got the job, is just an unexplainable feeling," she says, adding, "Like, it feels amazing.”
