Brian Pierce had a cleft lip and palate when he was a kid and he and his wife, Molly, hoped to adopt a child with the same condition. The couple was thrilled when they saw the first photos of their baby-to-be, Hattie, who was born with the condition as her future dad.
Once they were able to bring Hattie home, the little girl had surgery to correct the cleft lip and palate at the same hospital Brian did 40 years earlier, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. And the four-year-old girl is doing wonderfully now.
“Everyone who meets her falls in love with her,” the proud papa says of Hattie. “All the other kids want to play with her. She’s magnetic.”
