On the first night of his CPR training class, instructor David Knowles started feeling awful. He realized he might be having a heart attack, so first he let his new students know that he wasn’t doing a demonstration, this was the real thing.
Thankfully, one of the students in the class was former nurse Karol Chew, who was taking the course as a refresher. She was able to perform CPR on her CPR instructor when he stopped breathing. And without her, Knowles doesn’t know if he would have survived.
The 77-year-old man from Exeter, England, woke up two and a half weeks later, after being in a medically induced coma because of the severe heart damage. Now he’s in good health and feels much better. And the student who saved him knows she’s mastered her CPR technique!
