#TheGoodStuff - Kids Do Physical Therapy In Aquarium With Whale Sharks

If you have to do physical therapy, doing it in the water at the Georgia Aquarium while swimming in a tank with whale sharks is a pretty good way to do it. And a group of special kids was fortunate to have that once-in-a-lifetime experience recently.

Liz Pentecost was one of the ones in the water with the whale sharks. She was recently diagnosed with transverse myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord, that has left her paralyzed from the waist down. But swimming in the water at the aquarium, with all the animals, allowed her to feel free.

“It’s given me more courage for going in the water, because I can only use my arms, not my legs,” the 15-year-old explains. What a great reminder that nothing is impossible, even after a life-changing diagnosis.
