The sweet story of a 22-year-old rapper from Harlem traveling across the country to meet his 86-year-old Words With Friends buddy is melting hearts. Spencer, the young man, met Roz, the woman from the retirement community in Florida, while playing the online Scrabble-style game and the two played hundreds of times on the Internet before a pastor helped them connect in real life.
“So last summer I randomly met this 80 year old woman on Words With Friends,” Spencer tweeted. “We played 300+ games together and she actually ended up becoming a good friend of mine. Today I got to go to Florida and meet her in person.”
Pastor Amy Butler of The Riverside Church flew down with Spencer to meet his Words With Friends buddy and tweeted about them. “Sweet day today with Spencer and his #WordsWithFriends friend Roz,” she writes. “Watching them bond in person for the first time. #relationshipschangeus.”
