A man celebrating his birthday at the beach with friends helped make a wish come true for a man with dementia. Ryan Giancola says an elderly woman told their group at Duck Beach, North Carolina that her husband had dementia and most likely only has about a year to live and wanted to ride a wave one last time.
So Giancola and his friends got the man onto a boogie board and safely helped him enjoy the surf. “What an amazing experience,” Giancola tweets. “And on my birthday nonetheless."
