As millions of students go back to school, only the students at San Mateo collected their books and a Yondr case. The Yondr is a case that locks up cell phones. They have been used in concerts where a tech fence is the only thing that gives you access to the phone. When the students arrive, their phones must be in the case and when they leave, it will open.
In case of an emergency, each classroom has the ability to unlock the pouches and all 1,700 pouches were opened in the matter of minutes. The school tested it last year and decided to go school-wide this year.
