Kevin Howard, a North Carolina man, sued another man for "stealing his wife." According to North Carolina law, "alienation of affections" is a real thing. Meaning that "cheating or infidelity" is a legal reason to sue. It turns out that Howard's wife was cheating on him with a co-worker and their 12 year marriage was over. Due to the law, Howard sued the boyfriend because of "purposefully interfering with the marital relationship."
Howard was awarded the $750,000 judgment but doesn't believe he will ever see that money and claims that it was never about money. It was more about the sanctity of marriage.
