Ottawa businessman, Bruce McConville, set fire to $1 million dollars to keep his ex wife from getting it. McConville told the judge that he burned the million in two separate bonfires. McConville also defied a court order to not sell his properties since the court feared that the proceeds would be withheld. The judge said, “You are making a mockery of this court, and its process, something I will not allow … You are conducting yourself with intent to deliberately and wilfully frustrate the proper administration of justice," before McConville was sent to jail for thirty days.
