Notice any spelling or grammatical errors on this death certificate? At first glance, no, but when you scan every word, one sticks out. A Long Island criminal defendant tried faking his death to avoid a jail sentence, but the phony death certificate his lawyer submitted had a glaring spelling error that made it a dead giveaway for a fraud, prosecutors said. Robert Berger was going to prison on several charges, including possession of a stolen Lexus and attempted grand larceny of a truck. Berger then tried to fake his own death by submitting a death certificate. Berger did most of it correctly until the word "REGISTRY." Berger misspelled it as "REGSITRY." Berger is now facing additional jail time of up to four years.
