Restaurant Offers 50% Discount When Cell Phone Is Off
An Arab-owned restaurant in Abu Ghosh, Isreal has come up with a brilliant new Slow Food marketing campaign that may get people eating better: restaurant owner Jawdat Ibrahim has promised a whopping 50 percent off your bill if you turn your cell phone off when dining.
Ibrahim, 49, owner of the restaurant called Abu Ghosh, says that smartphones have really destroyed the modern way people are eating. An over the top and generous discount may sway people back to a more serene period of life when people came to his restaurant to eat, not to talk on the phone, text or surf while dining.
MANY AMERICANS DID NOT USE THEIR VACATION TIME OVER THE LAST YEAR
Did you use all of your vacation time over the past year? Expedia’s 2013 Vacation Deprivation survey finds that while most Americans were offered 14 vacation days they only took ten. The most common reason participants cited for not taking vacation time was that they were trying to “stockpile” days for the future, and 22-percent said they did not take time off due to scheduling difficulties. The survey also found that Japan and South Korea are the most vacation-deprived nations, and that France is the nation that takes the most vacation time. Curiously, 90-percent of French adults agreed to some extent with the sentence, “I feel vacation deprived.” (Yahoo)

Mom Billed $10 for Sending Kid to School with “Unbalanced” Lunch
A mom in Manitoba, Canada
Kristen Bartkiw sent her two kids to daycare with a lunch consisting of roast beef and potatoes, an orange, carrots, and milk.
What was missing? Grains.
Because her kids’ meals were “unbalanced” the school gave her kids Ritz crackers – and sent Kristin a bill for $10 – five bucks per kid.
The crazy thing is that Ritz crackers might very well be the least healthy thing those kids ate that day. (WeightyMatters.ca)
