Corporate kitchens in Atlanta reopen to help feed the hungry

The large Kitchens at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena have been closed since the pandemic hit in mid-March and sporting events were canceled, but that hasn’t stopped them from serving up great food for a great cause!

They are participating in the recently launched “Atlanta Community Kitchen Project,” with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Second Helpings Atlanta

The project uses once-closed corporate kitchens to cook meals for families in need.

Second Helpings volunteers and staff deliver the meals to partner organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, Horizons Atlanta and the At-Promise Youth and Community Center who then distribute the food to those who need it the most.

More than 170,000 meals have already been delivered to families across metro Atlanta so far.

According to the Second Helpings website, 1 in 6 Georgians is food insecure. Feeding America estimates one in four children are also hungry.

The pandemic has caused summer camps and day cares to close - couple that with hundreds of thousands of people being out of work, it exacerbates the hunger issue in America.

Now through June 30, every donation to the Atlanta Community Food Bank will be matched by a generous donor up to $50,000 so donate if you can by <<<<clicking here >>>>
