Don't be alarmed if a little blue robot rolls up to your front door anytime soon. It's just "SCOUT" Amazon delivery robot's that are now delivering packages in Atlanta .
"Amazon Scout," is designed to safely get packages to customers using autonomous delivery devices. These devices were created by Amazon, are the size of a small cooler, and roll along sidewalks at a walking pace.
Amazon describes them as "the size of a small cooler" that can "roll along sidewalks at a walking pace" and "navigate around pets, pedestrians and other objects in its path."
According to Amazon, Scout will be "delivering packages Monday through Friday, during daylight hours. The devices will autonomously follow their delivery route but will initially be accompanied by an Amazon employee. We developed Amazon Scout at our research and development lab in Seattle, ensuring the devices can safely and efficiently navigate around pets, pedestrians and anything else in their path."
