The famed Bank of America Roval 400 (part road course - part oval) at Charlotte Motor Speedway will roll off October 10th. This week breast Cancer Survivors and supporters attended the "Paint The Wall Pink" event at the track, and did just that, they painted the pit wall pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
NASCAR driver Kurt Busch was on hand and is supoorting the cause in a different way. Busch's #1 Monster Energy Chevrolet Camaro will have pink window nets for the race, dubbed "Windows of Hope."
In 2019, Busch received a letter from a young fan named Mason Bradley asking him to have a pink window net to inspire people to support others, like his mother Stephanie, who was battling breast cancer. That letter inspired Busch to create "WIndows Of Hope". He worked with NASCAR, the tracks, and Thermal Control Products, the company that provides 95% of the window nets to the Cup Series teams. They landed on Charlotte Motor Speedway and set the stage for the Window of Hope initiative.
Part of the initiative will feature an online auction through the support of The NASCAR Foundation. Following the ROVAL race, each participating driver will sign their window net which will be auctioned with the proceeds benefiting breast cancer research and treatment. Proceeds from the campaign will be used to offset out-of-pocket expenses associated with providing care for families currently facing a breast cancer diagnosis. NASCAR fans can go to www.NASCARfoundation.org/pinknets to place a bid and support “Window of Hope.”
