Cody Johnson kicked off this year's CMT Music Awards (live from Austin, Texas) with a special tribute to Texas in only a way a true Texas native could! The platinum-selling standout debuted his new single, "That's Texas," live for the first time ever to set the scene for a night full of country music hits and hitmakers. The single, featured on his latest album, Leather, pays homage to everything Texas, name dropping George Strait, two-stepping, honky tonks, tequila, and more!

Johnson proved that it's Texas "with a capital T" as he engaged the crowd in an energetic performance as big as the state itself. He made sure to draw attention to his band during the performance and thanked fans for their contributions to his success during a red carpet interview before the show. Johnson attended this year's show with his beautiful wife, Brandi Johnson, who also accompanied him on the red carpet.

The country music hitmaker was nominated for the night’s biggest category, “Video of the Year," in addition to three other nominations, tying him for the most award nominations of the night.

Other artists who took the stage at this year's CMT Music Awards included Sam Hunt, Jason Aldean, Megan Moroney, Little Big Town, Sugarland, Parker McCollum, Brittany Spencer, and more!
