Word of mouth and positive reviews can go a long way for drumming up business for a restaurant, so much so that an eatery can experience a boom in popularity almost overnight with a good word and viral social media post. Whether the establishment has been a longtime staple of the community or is a relative newcomer to the restaurant scene, there are plenty of eateries that have achieved a level of regional, or even national, fame and praise that continue to entice customers to see what it's all about.

LoveFood compiled a list of the "most famous restaurant" in every state, basing its picks on reviews, awards and accolades, and first-hand experience to find the eateries that hungry diners are "just longing to enjoy a meal at" and that are worth visiting at least once.

So which Georgia restaurant is considered to be the "most famous" in the entire state?

Mary Mac's Tea Room

This popular Atlanta eatery has drawn in a host of customers over the years looking to sample delicious Southern staples. Mary Mac's Tea Room, located at 224 Ponce De Leon Avenue NE, has a 4.4 star rating on Google and more than 13,000 reviews.

Here's what the site had to say:

"Since opening in 1945, Mary Mac's Tea Room has grown from one dining room to six, but much else is the same as it ever was, from the order notepads on each table and the complimentary cornbread muffin for first-time diners, to the menu itself, which includes Southern favorites like fried chicken and peach cobbler. Over the years, it's welcomed visitors, including the Dalai Lama, Beyoncé, James Brown, and Hillary Clinton.
