To recap, Johnny Depp brought the $50 million lawsuit against his ex-wife in March 2019, alleging that Amber Heard had implicitly accused him of domestic violence in a December 2018 op-ed in the Washington Post. In the piece, Heard called herself a “public figure representing domestic abuse” and spoke about the backlash she had received for speaking out. The op-ed did not cite Depp by name, but he alleged that it had a devastating impact on his career. The two sides presented dramatically different versions of reality throughout the six-week trial.
However, the Virginia jury has found in favor of Johnny Depp in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp sued Heard for 50-million dollars over an op-ed piece she wrote in The Washington Post about domestic violence. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star claimed the article hurt his career and caused him to lose roles in films.
I can honestly say I'm actually surprised. I thought there would be a little win on both sides since there was just SO MUCH! It was obvious neither were perfect in the relationship by all we were exposed to. But it seems that the jury went the way of the fans! There are literally thousands surrounding the courthouse at the time of the verdict and holy mackerel, if I were Amber Heard, I would be so intimidated to come out those doors to that set of obvious Depp fans! I assume she was hoping as a female to appeal to the idea of abuse in her situation. But what she didn't expect is the conversation now of females abusing males that has come into the spotlight. The fans who are currently reacting on Tik-Tock are certainly making their voices heard (No Pun Intended)!
