Head's up dog owners -- new food recall for Freshpet, Inc.'s Select Small Dog Bite Size Beef & Egg Recipe Dog Food (1 LB bags) due to concerns over salmonella poisioning.

This is a voluntary recall.

The food is sold at Publix stores here in Georgia -- but also in South Carolina and Florida. The food is also sold at some Target stores out in the western US.

The bags have a sell by date of 10/30/2021

UPC code: 627975012939

Lot code: 1421FBP0101

The company did say that an effort was made to stop these products from being distributed, but some were accidentally shipped the second week of June.

Just throw the bag away and request a refund by clicking here.

There have been no reports of any illness or reaction to any food. And all other products sold by the company are perfectly fine.

Canine symptoms of salmonella poisioning include lethargy, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting.

Contact your vet if your pet seems to be experiencing any of these symptoms.
