Country American Idol Winner Scotty McCreery ran into some trouble boarding a plane in Raleigh, NC when he "forgot" about a loaded hand-gun in his bag.
McCreery is a conceal carry permit holder but still doesn't work at an airport. He was stopped at a security checkpoint by a TSA employee who found a 9-millimeter handgun, as well as two boxes of ammo containing 63 bullets in his possession, according to an incident report.
McCreery claims he had gone shooting at a range several days before and forgot to take it out of his bag. “Unfortunately, I did not realize that I left my pistol in my backpack until the TSA found it during the security X-ray screening and rightly confiscated it,” he told HuffPost. “I had my concealed carry permit on me so once they had checked everything out, they then released me to catch the next available flight. Great to know our airport security force is on the job. I have learned a lesson that I won’t forget.”
The American Idol winner wasn't arrested just cited for the offense and allowed to board a later flight that day.
I've left a bottle of too much liquid or a pocket knife in a bag by accident, but a loaded hand-gun you should probably know where that's at bro!
