Dog's truly are man's best friend, especially when it comes to times of need. 2 hero dogs are helping in Puerto Rico and Mexico after major natural disasters.
ABC News shared a video of of a dog helping clean-up efforts in Puerto Rico, where 3 million people are without power, after the island was devastated by Hurricane Maria. The U.S. government is sending aid and resources to the island that is in ruins. Maria's destruction hasn't garnered as much attention as Hurricane Harvey and Irma's has in Houston and Florida, but it is definitely one of the worst in Puerto Rico's history. It's important to remind ourselves that even though they aren't on the mainland, these are American's too.
Even more heroic is Frida, who was deployed in Mexico after the massive earthquake that killed hundreds. She has already saved 12 people and is still working to find more. She's a yellow lab who works with the Mexican Navy's Canine Unit and during her lifetime she's saved 53 people.
Another reason I love animals so much. They really give their all to humans and with training can be an amazing asset to disaster recovery!
