It'll go down as the Great Fajita Heist of 2017. A former South Texas juvenile justice department employee allegedly stole $1.2 Million worth of fajitas! Now I love mexican food... but DAMN!
The AP reported that Gilberto Escaramilla was fired in August when the department had a massive fajitas delivery show up on his day off. The cooks informed the driver they don't serve Fajitas at the Juvenile Justice Department.
After serving warrants at Ecaramilla's residence, police found several packages for Tex-Mex Food that belonged to the department. It turns out he was stealing county-funded food deliveries for over 9 years and then serving the fajitas to his own customers. Over $1.2 Million in fajita food products where missing over the time.
“If it wasn’t so serious, you’d think it was a Saturday Night Live skit. But this is the real thing,” District Attorney Luis V. Saenz told the Brownsville Herald.
The biggest problem was matter how many Fajitas he stole, there where never enough tortillas! And he didn't eat any of it, because he'd already filled up on the chips and salsa.
I'm not sure if this guy is a hero or a villain. My mind says "criminal", my stomach says "GENIUS!"
