Police in Fredonia, WI recieved a number of 911 calls about a child on riding down the road strapped inside a pool on the roof of a van. Turns out the 9-year-olds mother needed him to hold the pool down to get it home!
28-year-old Amber Schmunk told police she didn't see anything dangerous about it, because her father "did things like that when she was that age." She claimed there wasn't enough room in the van for the pool and the child, and she didn't have anything to stop the pool down, so the child was used to hold it in place, according to Fox 6.
Schmunk is facing second degree reckless endangerment of a child, which is a felony and faces up to 5 years in prison for the idiocy.
The child was unharmed and Schmunk told police she eventually took him off the roof and folded the pool into the van mid-trip.
PARENT OF THE YEAR ladies and gentleman! I get it that being a parent is tough sometimes. I've got 2 myself. A little bit of common sense goes a long way though.... like DON'T PUT YOUR CHILD ON YOUR ROOF AND DRIVE OFF!
Though... I can attest, times where much different when I was young. My parents let us do some pretty unsafe things in the van and station wagon we had. Like put the bed down and play cards with no seatbelt, or ride in the far back where the luggage goes.
