Woman Jailed For Facebook Post About Her Ex, A GA Sheriff's Deputy

United States District Court Document

Who knew a Facebook post could land you in jail? It doesn't help if you where formerly married to a Sheriff's Deputy with a vendetta either.

According to a report by CNN, Anne King was arrested in 2015 after a snide post about her ex. He happened to be a Sheriff's Deputy in Washington County, GA and wasn't amused by the post. After seeing it and asking her to remove it, he got a warrant to have her arrested.

Her simple post that read, "That moment when everyone in your house has the flu and you ask your kid's dad to get them (not me) more Motrin and Tylenol and he refuses," landed her in jail for several hours and in court.

Her ex, Cory King, used an outdated law (that was deemed unconstitutional 30 years ago) to arrest her for "defamation and communicating false matter which tends to expose one who is alive to hatred, contempt, or ridicule, and which tends to provoke a breach of peace."

A Judge hearing the case through it out stating, "What are we even here for?". Now a recent lawsuit has been filed because of the arrest on Anne King's behalf.

Seems like a bitter ex over stepping his power. If we're gonna arrest people for things they say on Facebook, we're gonna need another planet to house the jail! Not saying I'm totally against it though..... there are WAY too many Facebook trolls I could do without!
