Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air Reboot Gets Picked Up For 2 Seasons

The original "Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" debuted Sept. 10th, 1990. Now there is a more dramatic re-boot in the works that got picked up by NBC.

A trailer for "Bel-Air" made it's viral rounds last year and had people excited for the possibility of a re-boot coming. Will Smith has joined the project and just got the new series picked up by NBC's streaming service Peacock.

The original was a sit-com staring Smith with lots of humor and fun. This new re-boot will take a more serious approach to the earlier years of the main character Will, when he was on the streets of Philly. The opening song of the original show takes you though the story of how Will got "in one little fight and my mom got scared, so I moved with my Auntie and Uncle in Bel-Air". This new version will be a modern day telling of that story.

Smith will serve as Executive producer and is excited about the project with Matt Cooper as director. Smith called the re-telling "Brilliant". There is no announced release date yet.

Plans to reunite the cast on the milestone for an unscripted special to stream later this fall on HBO Max were revealed last month.

I' SO HERE FOR ALL OF THIS!! Can't wait!
