When life hands you cockroaches... most people slaughter their entire community. Others....(well, one lady anyway) paint them into works of art.
Brenda Delgado, a self-taught artist from Manila, in the Philippines said on IG, “To my fellow artists, do not be afraid to explore your talents and challenge yourself to do the things you think are impossible.” I'm not sure anyone thought this was "impossible", maybe a little more "incredibly disgusting".
The 30-year-old artist was sweeping up her art workspace when she noticed some dead bugs. That's when she came up with the brilliant idea to paint their back into works of art. She chooses superheroes, villains, and even classic masterpieces like Van Gogh’s Starry Night or Vermeer’s Girl With a Pearl Earring.
The art is actually REALLY good... it's just the subject of the art NO THANKS! Delgado has attracted a lot of interest online with her very unique talent. Some people are saying it's animal cruelty, even though the bugs are dead before she paints them.
"It just seems cruel. Do not think that during my dying breaths in a hospital bed I would appreciate someone coming in to paint half of my body,” one person wrote. “If the cockroach is already dead, so be it – but it just seems hard and cruel. Talks a lot about the artist’s (lack of) empathy … ”
I wonder how that person feels when people like me call in an exterminator for their entire cockroach village, because I ain't living with those things! NOPE!
Somehow this girl with sell these things for thousands of dollars I'm sure. I'm good though.
She does paint other things though. She's a self-taught artist so some of these pieces are mind-blowing. She definitely has a major talent!
