Jada seems to be very amused by the whole slap and joke after. Does this prove more of the set-up theory?
If it was a fake outrage for publicity, it doesn't seem that the Academy was aware of the prank. They are actively investigating the slap heard round the world and are deciding about possibly banning Will Smith from future awards shows.
We've all seen the unedited video from twitter that seemed pretty real to almost 70% of people surveyed. The Academy also released a statement saying the Smith was asked to leave but refused after the incident. Isn't that what your security team is for?
Nonetheless, I was a believer that it was all real but this new video has me second guessing now. The cell video was taken from behind Will and Jada's table and shows Jada laughing and amused by the incident, when just second before she was "outraged" and "offended" by the G.I. Jane joke.

Here are the stats from a You.gov survey of 1,319 Americans about the incident:
- 61% of respondents considered Will Smith “wrong to hit Chris Rock after his joke” (only 21% said he wasn’t wrong, with 19% not sure — so, it is what it is, Tiffany Haddish).
- 72% of those 65 and older considered Smith wrong, but only 46% of 18- to 34-year-olds did so
- 59% of U.S. adults said it is “not ever OK to hit someone for something they said"
