Friends & Stars React To Toby Keith's Stomach Cancer News

Country Icon Toby Keith announced he's been fighting stomach cancer for 6 months, his peers are heartbroken for him.

Keith is known for his smash hits "Should've Been A Cowboy", "Beer For My Horses", "Red Solo Cup", & "Courtesy Of The Red, White & Blue". He become a decorated and legendary star in country music over the past 3 decades. His debut self-titled album came out in 1993 and "Should've Been a Cowboy" was one of the most played songs of the 90's. He has garnered 20 #1 singles and 21 Top 10 songs in his career. Keith was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Donald Trump in 2021, as well.

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” Keith wrote on his social media, “I’ve spent the last six months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax."

Fellow 90's country star John Rich said of his friend, "Hang in there, @tobykeith".

Many of his peers are sending their love and support in his fight.

The band Thompson Square wrote, "We are sending big love and prayers for healing."

Poison front man Bret Michaels wrote, ".@tobykeith my heart, soul & prayers are always with you & your family. My friend keep your incredible warrior spirit."

Being a OK native, Sooners' Basketball Head Coach Porter Moser sent his love saying, "Sooner Nation is With yOU and Praying for yOU brother !!! Nobody embodies a tougher Spirit than YOU!@tobykeith #Sooners."

Van Halen's Sammy Hagar shouted out support for his buddy, "wishing my big buddy a speedy recovery and a whole lotta love from most redheads around the world @tobykeith #SeeYouInCabo"

College Basketball legend Dick Vitale sent encouragement to Toby saying, "I met Toby at a dinner for the late gr8 WAYMAN TISDALE & during ⁦@OU_MBB . Toby is battling stomach cancer & my go out to Toby & his family . Trust me all ur & will inspire him to win this battle. Keep fighting Toby !"

We are in your corner Keith and praying hard for a fast recovery. This is gonna be a tough battle for sure, but there's no tougher person in Country music, so we know you've got this.
