It was a scary scene inside the plane and the video from the Tarmac as the landing gear caught fire when the plane landed.
A Spirit Airlines flight from Tampa to Atlanta caught fire as it hit the runway on Sunday. Passengers and crew where a little on edge seeing black smoke billowing from the tarmac underneath their plane. Flight 383 breaks started burning after it landed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when they overheated.
The flight attendants told passengers to "remain calm" and in their seats as the fire consumed the landing gear.
"Once we landed it made a weird noise from the left side of the plane. Nobody knew what it was until we stopped completely in the middle of the landing strip," passenger Scottie Nelms told FOX 5. "We saw a flame coming from the engine and people and myself started freaking out."
Another video was shared to social media of inside the plane, passengers seemed fairly calm but anxious. Loud booms were said to be heard by some passengers. Flight staff didn't feel the need to evacuate the plane and tried to keep everyone calm.
The fire was eventually extinguished without any harm to anyone and the plane is out of commission at the moment for repair. Spirit airlines released a statement saying, "Thank you to the Atlanta first responders for immediately meeting the aircraft. The plane will be temporarily removed from service for maintenance."
